Birmingham City Centre Enterprise Zone launched by Chancellor

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne MP, has formally launched the prospectus detailing the 26 sites that comprise the Birmingham City Centre Enterprise Zone.

The Enterprise Zone has the potential to create 40,000 jobs and increase GDP by £2.8 billion per year, while driving development in key sectors across the city and wider LEP.

In front of an audience of more than 200 property agents, developers and investment experts, the Chancellor was joined by Lord Heseltine, GBSLEP Chair Andy Street and Birmingham City Council leader Sir Albert Bore to give his backing to the scheme. Read more »


GBSLEP agrees £4 million deal to unlock Solihull mixed-use development

Work is set to start shortly on a community, office and retail scheme in North Solihull after a £4 million deal was agreed with the GBSLEP through the Growing Places Fund.

The Smiths Wood development had stalled as a result of challenges in accessing finance.
